My fonts don't show up!

I used some really cool fonts, but my friends told me that it doesn't show up on their computers.

Yeah, those cool fonts make your titles look great, but everyone tells you that all they see is Times New Roman or Arial.  Boring, right?

If you have dial-up service, did you notice that this image took no time at all to download?  Once an image file downloads, it gets cached so you can use it again and again and it shows up immediately.  Take advantage of that fact to repeat the same image file for buttons, backgrounds, decorative elements, etc.

Always keep in mind that other people don't necessarily have the same fonts installed on their computers that you do.  Any font that you use on your webpage that is not installed on the visitor's computer will show up as his default font.  And you never know... maybe someone out there has set her default font to a cutesy, girly font.  Think about that!  Would you be horrified to have your muscle car page written in a playful, feminine font?

To prevent such a loss of control over the look of your page, make sure you use BROWSER SAFE FONTS.  These are the fonts that everyone has.  If you specify "Verdana" (like I have on my page here), then Verdana is what everyone will see.

To add the look of your cool font to your page, you create an image file.  For example, I typed a sample heading with "wild & crazy" font, then converted it to an image so you can see it here.
