How to create a JPG file

to be professionally printed as 4x6




Open a new blank project, wide orientation.  Draw a rectangle exactly 9" wide and 6" high and position it in the center.





Add your design elements within the boundary of this rectangle.  It is important that you do not go outside the rectangle as that will destroy the correct proportion required for 4x6 printing.

Select all and group.  Click the group so that it is selected.  Export the group (NOT THE PROJECT) as JPG.  Select a resolution of 1800 x 1200 pixels.  You will get a file that looks like this: (your JPG should appear much larger on your monitor because of its high resolution which is required for high quality printing.)






Allow a bit of the rectangle to act as a safety border around your design.  In professional printing, images are slightly enlarged and then cropped, to get that full-bleed (borderless) look.  When the photo lab prints your file, the edges will get cropped, but that's OK because it will be the safety border that gets cropped.
