Note:If you do not have a previously created email account, Outlook 2000 will open the setup wizard automatically. If so, skip to step 3.
Click on ToolsAccounts.
Add, Mail
First switch to the Mail tab, clickAddMail.
The display name
Now enter the name that you wish to appear on your outgoing emails. You can use spaces and mixed case here. ClickNext to proceed.
Email address
Now enter your porchlight.ca email address. This will take the form of your user name@porchlight.ca. ClickNext to proceed.
Email server names
First ensure that the account type is set to POP3, then enter the incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) server names. The incoming mail server is pop.porchlight.ca and the outgoing server is mail.porchlight.ca. ClickNext to proceed.
Account name and password
Now enter your porchlight.ca user name and password. Be sure to leave "Log on using secure password authentication" unchecked.
Connection Method
Choose "Connect using my phone line" for the connection method. ClickNext.
Existing Connection
Now select "Use an existing dial-up connection", and choose porchlight.ca. ClickNext.
Finished
Now clickFinish to complete the wizard.
Enabling SMTP authentication
The final step involves enabling SMTP authentication for outgoing mail. Highlight pop.porchlight.ca and click on Properties.

Now switch to the Servers tab and check "My server requires authentication" under the Outgoing Mail Server heading.
