Open the New Connection Wizard

To begin, click on Start

Connect To.

Set up a connection or network

You should now be presented with the Connect to a Network window.

Click on Set up a connection or network from the list of links at the bottom.

Choose a connection option

Select Set up a dial-up connection from the list of options.

Click Next to proceed.

Connection Information

First, click on the phone number field and enter the full ten digit dial-up access number for the city you are currently local to. These are listed in the table below. Make sure you use the number that is local to you.

Now enter your porchlight.ca username and password in the appropriate fields.

Finally, enter porchlight.ca for the connection name and click Connect to continue.

Connect to the Internet

The wizard will now attempt to connect to the Internet, with the intent of verifying the settings that you've supplied. If your phone line is not available or you do not wish to connect at this time, click Skip.

If you clicked the Skip button, proceed to step 6. If you tested the connection and it was successful, you can jump to step 7.

Set up the connection anyways

If you clicked the Skip button in the previous step, the wizard will now state the connectivity test was unsuccessful. This is expected. Simply click on Set up the connection anyway to proceed.

Finished

Now click on Close to complete the setup procedure.

To connect to the Internet, open the Connect to a Network window once more with Start

Connect To. There you will find the porchlight.ca connection just created. Simply highlight it and click on Connect to launch the connection window.

From here, verify your username and click Dial to access the Internet.
