Windows 98 SE - Internet Connection Wizard
  1. Open the Internet Connection Wizard

To load the Internet Connection Wizard click Start Run.

The window that opens allows you to manually enter a command to load a program.  Before typing in the command to load the Internet Connection Wizard ensure that this box is blank.

Type in inetwiz and press enter or click Ok.

  2. Internet Connection Wizard

You should now be presented with the Internet Connection Wizard.  The first step will have two choices on it. Select the first choice which says, "Connect using my phone line". Click Next to proceed.

Click the Next button to continue.

  3. The dialup access number

First, click on the telephone number field and type in the full ten digit dial-up access number for the city that you are currently local to.  These are listed in a table below.  Make sure you use the number that is local to you.

Although an area code field is provided, we recommend you not use it. Type the dial-up access number including the area code in the telephone number field.  By doing it this way you reduce the risk of entering in the wrong area code and inadvertently incurring long distance charges.

The area code and country code fields will default to the values determined by your computer's dialing rules (they may be incorrect). Uncheck the box that says "Dial using the area code and country code" to ensure that these fields are ignored.

    Click Next to continue.
